What a pleasant surprise

The staff was extremely courteous and attentive. They were ready to clean the shower when we were done. We enjoyed grilling on the patio looking a nearby hill. The pool and spa where great for my children. The nearby attractions were great. We were pleasantly surprised to see that they had supplies for rv's there and some general toiletries. My mother enjoyed washing her clothes in the laundry room. Everyone we met there was friendly and made us feel so welcome that we stayed an extra day. We can't wait to go back again. They have a nice library in the main building too as well as a full kitchen with dining area. It was a nice quiet location while the local scenery is nice. We visited some nearby parks while staying there. This was our first resort experience which was very pleasant. We hope to go back to this fantastic place sometime soon.

A Wonderful place to visit

Distant Drums is a lovely park. It is fairly new, large but not too large, and well maintained. The workers are very kind, helpful, and cooperative in the office and on the grounds. Pull-through sites are available for overnighters (or longer visitors). We stayed a number of nights and made day-trips to surrounding scenic locations. We would recommend this park highly and would stay there again if we are in that area. At Distant Drums, they pick up your trash daily which is a nice feature and a bus will come from the nearby casino to take you there for gaming or dining in one of several different restaurants. Later, they will bring you back to the campground. The location is convenient to several ancient ruins (worth seeing), a casino, and a not-too-long ride into Sedona, a 'can't miss' city. Since it is Arizona and usually quite warm, warm weather clothing, sun hats, sun glasses, and sun screen are necessary. However, if you forget something important, you can find it in nearby Camp Verde or in Sedona. Camp Verde has a nice selection of stores for groceries and sundries - even a Home Depot. What you can't find there, you can find in the myriad of shops in Sedona. In Sedona, be sure to take a Pink Jeep Tour of some sort. Take lots of pictures and enjoy! Our stay at Distant Drums RV resort was great. Yours will be too.

Quick, easy, fun!

Distant Drums resort in Camp Verde, Arizona, is one of our favorite campgrounds! Just over an hour away from Phoenix Arizona make this the perfect spot for a short or long weekend. We have used this as a 'base of operations' for day trips to Flagstaff, Grand Canyon, Sedona, Jerome and the old Territorial Capitol of Prescott. Montezuma's Castle National Monument and Fort Verde State Park are just minutes away and provide signifigant historical and cultural insights. Cliff Castle Casino is just across the highway and has great slots, game tables, a bowling alley and three themed restaurants inside. Camp Verde itself is a great little town; with a hardware store, major grocery and drug stores, variety and dollar store, auto parts store and gas stations it has everything you need! The eating experience is great too. We usually cook in the RV, but the 'best pizza ever' can be found at a little mom and pop pizzaria in town. The weather is always great, sunny and cool (ten degrees cooler than Phoenix) so bring some sweats or a light jacket. The resort itself is spotlessly clean with friendly, helpfull staff. They have a well equipped selection of RV needs at the clubhouse just in case you forgot something! There are regular events at the clubhouse such as potlucks and karaoke night. The clubhouse contains a common room with free coffee, a laundry center, secure locking showers, and a world class gym with two treadmills, free weights and universal machine. There is a large swimming pool and hot tub onsite which we frequent. The roads are paved, the sites we have used are within 1/2" of being level and all the hookups work flawlessly. Cable TV is onsite with many channels. There is wi-fi but we haven't tested it yet. In short, whatever direction you are coming from or if you are just passing through or plan to spend a few nights, Distant Drums is the best RV park in the area, hands down!
