Just a Place to Park a Rig- Nothing More

The phone reservation process was fine. The individual I spoke to was pleasant and accomodating. When we arrived we had a hard time figuring out where to find someone to check in with but it wasn't long before someone came along in a golf cart to assist us. The roads were narrow and finding our reserved site would have been difficult without someone to help us. The sites were so close together I have no idea how some of the bigger units managed to get into them. We had no picnic table and were told only people who stay a month get one. Also we weren't allowed to have a campfire. Camping = campfires and marshmallows. At least that's what I used to think. It turns out this place is a mobile home park for retirees, which is fine, with RV spots closer to the front for travelers. We just needed a place to park a 36 foot motor home for a couple of nights while we were visiting a family member but I would never stay here for any other reason. It was difficult finding the restrooms/showers. They were pretty old, but they were kept maintained and clean. The WiFi was great. My overall impression is that the place must be making a lot of money off the seasonal people, but they don't seem to put any of it into improvements. There were just absolutely no redeeming features of this place at all.

Great Location
100 % of users found this review helpful
My wife and I travel to Tarpon Springs every January to visit her Dad. We have stayed in many of the RV parks along Route 19 and 19A. Hickory Point is a hidden gem located on the shore of the Anclote River. A small, friendly park, conveniently located for touring the area, including the nature preserves, downtown Tarpon Springs and of course, their world-famous Sponge Docks. Hickory Point is definitely not an RV resort park. The sites are rustic and closely spaced. Big rigs were located closer to the road in an area of the park with fewer trees. Most of the sites near the river were occupied by older mobile homes, but the central area was well shaded and the sites were fairly level. Cable TV is not available for short stays, as is the case with most of the RV parks in the area, but the wi-fi connection at our site was fast and stable. The rates were a bit pricey for such a rustic campground, but not out-of-line with other parks in the area. Bottom line, if Tarpon Springs is your destination, Hickory Point provides a great location for a "base-camp" stay.
